Light the Night

Each year, Maric Homes proudly supports Light the Night, an annual event organized by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

The walk unites families, friends, and businesses across the country to raise awareness and critical funds for blood cancer research, treatment, and patient support.

For the Maric team, this cause is deeply personal.

It’s a show of support for those affected by blood cancers and it’s grown into a company tradition – one that reflects our values of community, compassion, and care that extends beyond the homes we build.

But most of all it’s our way of celebrating and remembering Marcia Maric. For our family, Marcia’s life gave us many gifts: a reminder to stay focused on the present, to appreciate every moment we are given, to value the creation of memories over the accumulation of materials, and of course the greatest gift, family.

From fundraising initiatives to lighting up the night with our team, family, and friends, we participate each year to help bring hope to those impacted by cancer and to honour the strength of survivors, patients, and their loved ones.

Supporting Light the Night is one small way we can help build something lasting – not just homes, but a stronger, more compassionate community right here in Winnipeg.

2026 carries special weight for us, as it marks ten years since we lost Marci.

A decade on, walking together beneath the lanterns feels as meaningful as it ever has. This year’s walk is on Saturday, October 3rd at The Forks.

The evening is always uplifting: a short 45-minute walk beneath lanterns in the autumn sky, with food, refreshments, and great company. It’s a time to honour Marci’s memory and to shine a light for those still fighting blood cancers. If last year’s walk was any indication, it will be an amazing evening to be with your family.

Thanks to your generosity, Team Marcia Maric has now raised almost $400,000 since 2015, leading directly to continued research, treatment, and care for families in the fight right now. Knowing Marci’s legacy has helped other families beat blood cancer is deeply humbling and gives her life and her fight so much more meaning.
